Bamboo Shades for a Cozy + Elevated Living Room
If you’re looking for a window treatment that’s stylish, functional, and timeless, bamboo shades are the way to go. I recently added woven bamboo shades to my living room, and I love how they instantly warmed up the space. What I Love About Bamboo Shades
After living with these for a bit, here are a few things that make me glad I chose bamboo:
- The texture – they instantly warm up a room and add a little natural character.
- The fit – since they’re made to size, you can do inside or outside mounts depending on your windows.
- The light – soft and glowy during the day, but with lining you still get privacy at night.
- The quality – mine are OEKO-TEX® certified and feel really well made, which makes me confident they’ll last.
💡 How to Measure + Install Bamboo Shades
When it comes to getting the perfect fit, here’s what worked for me:
- I mounted the shades ¾ inch in from the front edge of the window frame (the part closest to the room, not the glass).
- On the sides, I set the brackets about 2 inches in from each edge of the window frame. To install, I used a ¼-inch drill bit to pre-drill the holes, marking them through the pre-drilled guide holes in the hardware. Since I didn’t hit any studs, I also added wall anchors for extra support.)
- Once installed, it’s easy to adjust them so they look perfectly centered.

The Final Look
